my first list! excited about this one, which by the way, was tagged on by my awesome & lovely cousin, the wonderful pam. 10 things that make me smile (happy)…

1) babies! you hear the coos and goo-goo gah-gahs and the laughter, and the smiles -its inevitable! I’ve got to watch the new documentary!

2) fifa! when a fav team scores, its more than just a smile, its a feeling of accomplishment, as if I just made the goal!

3) old couples! they’re rare, they’re adorable, and its admirable.

4) chivalry, everytime my dad opens the car door for me, a stranger helps you, etc.

5) a fart. lol! yeah, i said it! not stranger farts though, those gross me out! i’m talking family and friends. this one always starts with a smile proceeded by an ‘omg!’ followed by loads of laughter. i know what you’re thinking. what?! oh, like you’ve never had a good laugh due to a fart!

6) phoebe my furball, she always manages to bring a smile to my face no matter what. she’s cute, she’s fluffy, she’s a mess!

7) my mom’s english. its a whole new language in itself! she ‘lubs ju so mush’ or ‘gimmie to me’ or ‘cloze-it the door’ lmao! my favorite is when she says anything with a 3 in it, its ‘tree’ or ‘turdy-tree’

8.) when i get flowers on my birthday. swordlilies (gladiolas) or stargazer lilies. every year my mom gets me a huge mixed bouquet of them.

9) reading -a good love story. fiction or non, i haven’t found my ‘meant to be’ and in a world of lies and betrayal, reading about love reminds me that it still exists.

10) snow. i live in texas, we hardly get it. i love winter, last year we got like 11 inches of snow -that’s a lot for tx. I need to move to alaska!

that’s my 10, and not necessarily in that order. ok, I have one more that i feel i must add! but no laughing at me!

11) john travolta & cheese cake. lol! what?! he’s great to watch in his younger days, I can watch all his early movies over and over and enjoy him with a yummy slice of cheese cake! you can’t do one without the other.

bonker brakes

crashing isn’t at the top of my list, especially after my car accident some time ago. i’m traumatized! being bed ridden for 6 months and dealing with physical therapy would’ve traumatized just about anyone right? when i woke up this morning, the last thing that was on my mind was brake failure.

on my way to work this morning, about 5 am, i realized my brakes didn’t work. i actually thought i might have stepped on the gas at one point, by accident, since the pedal was so soft and sank all the way down to the floor. i quickly realized it was the brakes i had stepped on and not the gas. the street i turned on has hills and curves, needless to say i was doomed for disaster. i braced myself, sqeezing the steering wheel like my life depended on it, no wait, it did, as i approached the stop sign, i zoomed past! thank God there weren’t any cars, except one, but was on the on-coming traffic side.

terrified, crying, and screaming I reached for my phone to call my mom. I ended up hanging up on her because she only stressed me out even more, yelling at me to calm down, ‘why are you crying?!’ she’d ask. well let’s see, i’m going 40mph, about to go down a hill and pick up more speed, pumping my brake pedal has no effect on the car! i’m going to go with terrified for $500 please. un-effin-believable! by this time, I ran my first red light.

what’s after that hill? nothing other than another hill. only this time i’ll be going up. as i’m approaching the top… well, this f***er car decides to slow down almost to a stop. now, i don’t know if cars roll back, but at this point i’m not interested in finding out! keep in mind that theres another intersection coming up and its at the top of this stupid hill! the light is red for me, i know that if i step on the gas i’ll be sure to hit someone passing thru, if I don’t, will i go backwards? I stepped on it! running my second red light, shutting my eyes and escaping the crossing cars. everyone honking, including myself, I had the emergency blinkers on, but I don’t think they knew what was going on! crossed without a single scratch! there’s a God and he thanks i’m a keeper! holy… now all I have to do is make it to my job’s parking lot. two more lights lol, it was like torture! i think i aged about 10 yrs.

well slowly but surely I made it to my job and came to a stop as I pulled into a parking slot, jumping the curb. 1 stop sign and 2 red lights later, safety! now you’re probably thinking, this idiot! why didn’t she go for the emergency brake?! i didn’t think about it lmao! Omg! Wtf is wrong with me?! my advice if you’re ever in this situation, don’t call a family member, call 911 they’ll be sure to remind you of that little helper called the emergency brake! and if not, they’re still going to be way more help!

evo madness

i’m not a fan of waiting lists. i am happy to announce that i finally got the new htc evo 4g from sprint after waiting for about 4 days. the employees there must hate me because, yes, i’m not ashamed to say, i called everyday to check on my phone! how annoying must that have been? hahaa!

 i love it! makes me warm and fuzzy inside to say the least. lately ive been bombarded with texts, emails and phone calls from family and friends and even co-workers sending me reviews of the evo. thank you for that. i, however, think i’m the best critic. taking into consideration everyone uses their phones differently, i shall decide whats best for me. drum roll please! …it kicks ass!

there’s been loads of talk about battery life, phone being way too big (which by the way, for toy fanatics you geeks sure were quick to bash the size, hmmm?! thats all i’m saying!)

I took a road trip with my dad, from dallas to el paso. we left saturday morning at 5:40am, I had charged it thru the night, I txt, Facebooked, and watched the entire game: Mexico vs. S.Africa on ESPN mobile. When we arrived, I used gps to find bonnie’s (an awesome burrito joint) where we met up with the rest of the family. usage didn’t end there, I called my mom to let her know we had arrived ok at 3pm. and we all know how moms can talk right? my evo got passed around to all my iPhone family users, which by the way all agreed it was a cool phone! Went to the hotel to check in, took a nap, changed, facebooked some more and the battery had rundown to yellow on the display, and it was about 6pm by then. With that said, am I complaining? No. I simply charged it in the car on the way to the family’s. Does the battery run out fast? that is to be decided individually and based on usage.

I think when it comes to size, for some, bigger is better, for others, its the motion? No? Ok. Again, this is an individual, personal choice. I use gps a lot, so its awesome for that. Not that I need to look at it, since sprint provides gps with turn by turn direction, I call her handy mandy (yes, Im one of those who name everything) I use the internet and check email, fb,Twitter, my bank acct., I Google everything, you, me and our second cousin twice removed. I watch tv (espn, can’t miss my sports just because of work). So do I like that the screen is about the size of the iPhone itself? you bet your ass I do! Plus its got a kick stand! Convenient -very! Awesome for picture viewing too. Which brings me to the camera.

It has 2, an 8mpix in the back and one in the front, its a 1.something mpix. I’ll be adding a pic or two from our trip, so you can see how awesome it is. one pic is of guadalupe peak (highest point in tx) which was taken from inside the car at about 65mph. A pic of a bug, and my dad having a bonnie’s burrito. The evo is totally rad! There’s more and we’ll get to that later. Im sure plenty of others are blogging about it.
